Here is a photograph I took of a small sun dog that I spotted from my house in Seattle on the evening of May 11, 2011. In the image you will see a 'mock' sun to the left of the real sun but at the same horizontal line. You'll also see a faint circular arc rising from the sun dog and in theory, reaching a second sun dog to the right of the sun (not visible however). Not a terribly spectacular one, but interesting nevertheless. Caused by high altitude ice crystals drifting into lower levels and becoming vertically aligned.
